Do you ever have the craving to bake but want to reduce the simple sugar content?
Then when you do it turns out horribly?
There is nothing more frustrating!
Here are some tips for when baking and using simple sugar substitutes:
Coconut sugar, cane sugar & sucanat can all be substituted 1:1 with white sugar.
Raw honey you should sub 3/4 cup for every 1 cup of white sugar or liquid honey reduce by 3 tbsp ( it does tend to be a lot sweeter than sugar)
Maple syrup & agave can be substituted by 1:1 but you need to then reduce liquid ingredients in the recipe by approx 3 tbsp
Liquid stevia is fantastic in raw baked goods ( like protein balls) and dates are also fantastic in raw recipes ( really good in shakes).
Also a good rule of thumb any time you are using a liquid sweetener in baking, reduce the oven temperature by about 25-30 degrees as it does burns faster.
I hope this helps! Happy Baking!
