Hi, I’m Brittany! I’m a proud mom to a beautiful girl named Lennon and two perfect twins named Logan & Liam.

My passion is all things wellness and providing the healthiest and happiest life for my family. I created brittanytelford.com as a way to connect with other families by sharing my knowledge, experiences, and discussing all things motherhood.

Who I am? Where does my passion come from?

My health journey started at age 9 when I was diagnosed with severe Rheumatoid Arthritis, losing my ability to write, walk without assistance, and attend school full time. After years of disastrous medications, injections, and surgery, more symptoms and issues started to appear. From ulcers and extreme digestive issues to mental health challenges with anxiety and depression, I realized that my body was screaming for my attention. It no longer was just a joint issue I was suffering from but a full body and mental imbalance.

As a teenager, with nothing and everything to lose, I started to read and research and developed a stronger interest in learning about nutrition. I learned how the foods I was eating were interacting with my body to trigger and perpetuate my disease.

For the first time, I felt empowered to change my health; I understood how my body worked, and I no longer felt helpless to my illness. Through my disease, my body was not trying to hurt me, but instead, just speak to me.

I followed an auto-immune and anti-inflammatory diet and also made some major lifestyle changes. I went completely off all subscription medication and not only did my arthritis go into remission, but my other mental and physical health challenges started to disappear.

I wanted to learn more.

I went on to study Exercise and Health Promotion at college and university which focuses more on traditional approaches, however, I wanted to dig deeper into the holistic side of health and wellness. I then attended the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition and graduated with honors and my designation as a Certified Holistic Nutritionist. Most recently, I continued my studies to become a Herbalist in Chinese medicine. Throughout the years, I also received certifications in Holistic Culinary, Integrative Nutrition through the Childbearing Stages, Optimal Nutrition for Healthy Kids, and as a Women’s Health Coach.

I wanted to learn more.

I moved to the country to gain a strong interest in self-sustainability. I learned how to be a hunter and gardener and even got my first farm animals which were chickens. I also made a lot of changes in my lifestyle to reduce exposure to toxins at home. I started testing homemade recipes to replace soaps, cleaners, detergent, body products, you name it, I did it. By eating and living more naturally, I started to notice a huge difference in not only how I felt and but also how I looked.

I wanted to learn more.

After deciding to leave the corporate world to follow my dream of helping others, I became the owner of Hybrid Fitness Center. This has given me the pleasure of working closely with many women throughout weight loss transformations. I wanted to help create a space where woman could feel confident in their bodies and work through diet, exercise, and lifestyle to create a healthier and happier version of themselves.

I wanted to learn more.

When I become a Mom, I brought a child into this world with a clean slate. I wanted to do everything I could to ensure I was giving my child the best start in life when introducing foods. I also wanted to make sure I was taking care of me and dealing with the hormonal challenges that came after childbirth, to ensure I was continuing to be the best person and mom possible. Through nutrition, herbs, and lifestyle I have been able to help my children navigate colic, acid reflux, allergies, and eczema. I have also been able to support their digestion, strengthen their immune system, and combat childhood illness through Chinese medicine.

I will never stop learning!

My goal is to help inspire others to make small changes that can provide large impacts to them and their families, just like it did for me.

XO
